Welcome back! We hope you have all managed to have a lovely summer break despite Covid-19 and your children have been looking forward to returning to Rainbows! We would like to welcome all our new children and their families and we hope you enjoy coming to our pre-school. If you have any questions or concerns don’t hesitate in asking. As you are all aware, we had a visit from Ofsted in July. We received ‘Good’ with Outstanding in our behaviour management. We were very pleased with this result as we know the Ofsted guidelines have changed and it is increasingly difficult to achieve outstanding across the board. The recommendation from Ofsted is to improve our communication with parents, and although we feel that we have always had good relationships with our parents, we do feel Covid has taken its toll. We are now going to change the way parents drop off in the mornings. This was also brought to our attention through our questionnaires we sent out before the summer holidays. We would like all parents to come into the outside play area in the mornings and we will greet you and your child there. This will hopefully give you more time and space to chat to us. We would ask you though to leave the playground if possible by 0930 as we like to start our day promptly. Please remember though that we will always make time for a chat, even if its on the telephone or via email.
We will now not be taking temperatures unless our guidelines change, but rest assured our hygiene regime will stay the same.
If you have not yet done so, please can you log into Tapestry and complete the ‘All about me’ section. The information you provide is very useful to ensure your child is settled and happy. This includes our new parents
and existing ones. If you have applied for your 30 hours free funding, please be aware that you have to update your eligibility code every 3 months. Please also make sure we receive your code by 8th September.
Please continue to keep an eye on the whiteboard which will be in the outside porch area.It has up to date information, ‘Story of the week’ and ‘Rhyme of the week’. We are hoping that your awareness of our stories &
rhymes will encourage discussion with your child at home!
We were very fortunate with the amount of money we received from our fundraising activity. Some of it was spent on the leavers school party and we have spent some money making changes to our playroom. We have re vamped our model making and mark making areas. We have purchased a round table for their writing and drawings, making it a more sociable area. Lots of resources are in pots hanging on the wall making it easier for
the children to access resources.
All of the enrolment forms need to be checked each year, so if you have any changes for example, change of address, phone numbers etc please let us know straight away. If your child is staying for lunch for the first time we are committed to a healthy eating lifestyle. If you would like any help with this please ask. It would be helpful if you could only put in their lunch boxes what you would like them to eat. Please do not give your child anything containing nuts. We always ensure they eat sandwiches
first and then their biscuit etc., but some children bring quite a lot and we are sometimes unsure of how much they are supposed to eat. Obviously, lunch does not to be a sandwich. Pasta, Wraps or crackers are very
acceptable. We also need you to cut grapes and sausages in half, lengthways please. They are a huge choking hazard. Please also label the lunch boxes clearly.
The children love our reward board, and it is beneficial for their self-esteem so please continue to use the silver coins to reward your child’s achievements. It can be for something quite simple, i.e. saying thank-you, using the toilet, eating their dinner, sleeping all night! We read out all the coins and the children congratulate their friends by clapping. To keep it meaningful please don’t write a coin every time they are in just when they have achieved something.
Please can you ensure that you provide the spare clothes and outside wear that we suggested. We have limited all-in-one wet weather suits and boots for these occasions but as you know the children like to get the water
everywhere. Please supply named wellies if they have some. Children will need long trousers, a coat and wellie boots for our wood walks. Please can you also check your child for Ticks on a regular basis, but we will inform
you when wood walks have taken place. If you are at all worried you need to see your GP.
Please don’t forget to label your child’s bags, clothes, shoes etc. We cannot accept unnamed lunch boxes, drinks bottles, coats or shoes. We will provide marker pens. If you haven’t yet labelled these. Remember you can purchase labels from ‘My nametags’ quoting our school ID 47700. This helps us with pennies towards our fundraising pot. Please also help us further if you shop online by adding easyfundraising to your pc.
Don’t forget also for your child to bring in one piece of fruit each week. If every child just brings one piece in, we should have a lovely selection. Just place the fruit in the large bowl on the lunchbox trolley.
We have the school photographer coming on ………… October at 0830.
Please don’t forget to use our web-site to keep up to date with everything. Newsletters and dates for your diary are all on there. All newsletters and information will be posted onto Tapestry so please access your account
regularly please. Invoices will be sent separately to your email addresses provided.
We also need to make you aware of EYPP – Early Years Pupil Premium. If your joint household income is less than £16,190 your child may be eligible for funding that we can use to support your child within our setting.
Please come and speak to Lynn, Sarah or Sarah for more information.
There is also a new contact number for Rainbows. Lynn’s number remains the same, but a new number will be available which will ensure you will be able to reach anyone of us. The number is 07915 968 011. We are hoping eventually to phase Lynn’s number out and use the new number as our main source of contact.
Please come and speak to anyone of us if you have any queries.
Thank you for your continued support Lynn, Sarah, Sarah and The Rainbows team.
